Signature Chef Auction Was a Hit

On Tuesday night at Boardwalk Beach Resort, the March of Dimes hosted their Signature Chef Auction event to raise funds for their non-profit organization. They were able to raise a considerable amount of financial resources with the event and helped further their mission of working together for stronger, healthier babies.

The event started promptly at 6pm with several individuals and volunteers putting the finishing touches on the finely polished evening. As you walked into the foyer at Boardwalk Beach Resort, you were greeted by two swashbuckling pirates that were waiting for arriving guests to help assist them. The night was pirate themed and very well done with the decor.

After the Jack Sparrow looking plunderer showed us the way, you could begin to smell the aroma of the best local chefs preparing their incredible creations. It was coming down the hall and inviting you in.

We were met again at the registration table with an extremely gracious and warm welcome. Our information was submitted for the silent and live auction, then I entered the lavish room with great decoration and layout. The chefs were hard at work, attendees were perusing through the silent auction items that were donated by several local businesses ranging from a Regions Bank beach cruiser bicycle (which was gorgeous and green) to a golf package from Hombre Golf course with several other great items as well.

Running right on schedule, the chefs were ready for the guests to be served. So many options of great local cuisine to choose from, someone must be hardwired and disciplined to not be in awe of the range of selection. The restaurants included in the evening's tasting included Boatyard, Firefly, Outlaws Bar-B-Q, Buccaneer Bar and Grill, Panama City Country Club, Spinnaker Beach Club, My Best Friend's Kitchen, and Bonefish Grill.

This was no contest, just a showcase of the restaurant's best items. Though, between Outlaw's Bar-B-Q fall-off-the bone Pork Rib Shanks and Firefly's utterly delightful She-Crab Soup, Bonefish Grill showcased their Ahi Sashimi Tuna that was phenomenal. I was unaware, as were many others unfortunately, that Bonefish Grill served this dish. But it is 100% certain that anyone who gave it a go will absolutely (including myself) be visiting Bonefish soon to enjoy this insanely delicious Tuna once again.

All in all, the evening was a hit. Perfectly planned and executed. A great time with fun, food, prizes, and great purpose to further the amazing cause that March of Dimes that so passionate about and proactive about. This is their large fall season event and they seem to be moving forward in their third year and there is such a great reception by the community for the event that it's becoming an annual marquee event for certain.

If you missed this event, you don't want to miss next year. Take the opportunity to enjoy yourself with such an amazing collection of local chefs, volunteers, March of Dimes representatives, and philanthropic attitudes by local business and individuals alike. See you next year.
