After many months of planning the
Bay Arts Alliance announced the 2012-2013 Presenting Art Series line-up and schedule with several huge names in comedy and music set to perform. The schedule has five performances (one more than last year) and is sure to entertain with such a wide variety of talent. The schedule is as follows.
LEGENDARY COMEDIAN MARTIN SHORT - Sun., Dec. 16, 2012
Martin Short, a celebrated comedian and actor, has won fans and accolades in television, film and theater since his breakout season on Saturday Night Live almost 30 years ago. His popularity and exposure led Short to cross over quickly into feature films. Currently, Martin Short can be seen on the CBS hit comedy series How I Met Your Mother in the recurring role of Garrison Cootes.
LANDAU EUGENE MURPHY, JR. – Fri., Jan. 11, 2013
After receiving standing ovations from judges Sharon Osbourne, Piers Morgan and Howie Mandel, singing a sizzling duet with the iconic Patti LaBelle, Landau was named the winner of America's Got Talent sixth season. Landau’s first album, "That’s Life" debuted at number one on the Billboard jazz charts and the top 40 overall. Not only did his unique singing style make him stand out from all of his competition, Landau’s humility, charm and confidence endear him to audiences at his sold-out concerts.
DISNEY'S BROADWAY MUSICAL BEAUTY & THE BEAST – Tues., Feb. 5, 2013
The original creators of the Broadway production are together again for this new touring production! Disney’s Beauty and the Beast features the animated film’s Academy Award®-winning score with music by Alan Menken and lyrics by the late Howard Ashman, with additional songs with music by Alan Menken and lyrics by Tim Rice. The book is written by Linda Woolverton.
ELVIS LIVES! – Wed., Feb. 20, 2013
An unforgettable multi-media and live musical journey across Elvis’ life. This mega show features four finalists from Elvis Presley Enterprises’ annual worldwide Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest. The Elvis tribute artists will be joined by a live band, back-up singers, dancers, along with an Ann-Margret tribute artist, as well as iconic imagery made available from the Graceland archives.
TONY AWARD WINNING MUSICAL , HAIR – Tues., April 9, 2013
This exuberant musical about a group of young Americans searching for peace and love in a turbulent time has struck a resonant chord with audiences young and old. HAIR features an extraordinary cast and unforgettable songs, including "Aquarius," "Let the Sun Shine In," "Good Morning, Starshine" and "Easy To Be Hard." Its relevance is UNDENIABLE. Bay Arts Alliance definitely has outdone themselves this year. Bringing such a well-rounded roster of talent wasn't easy, but they did. Bay Arts Alliance is funded through sponsorship by local individuals and business that help them create so much cultural opportunity for local children. They host two cultural festivals and have several other events that provide over 7,500 area children with great cultural experiences.
