Across the pond, Britain's newspaper The Daily Mirror posted an article on Panama City Beach in their online edition MIRROR.CO.UK, hailing Panama City Beach as America's best-kept holiday secret.
Check out some of what they have to say on our beaches, U.S Spring Break, Seabreeze Winery and our beloved Sharky's.
Florida's very own Panama City by Mirror.co.uk
"What’s in a name? A lot. Yet sometimes it can be confusing.“So you’re off to Panama City,” said a friend. “Be sure to take a look at the canal and bring me back a hat.”
He was wrong... by about 1,500 miles as the crow flies. The Panama City I was bound for is on Florida’s north-west coast, not in Central America. It’s an easy mistake to make as even Florida-loving Brits heading for the theme parks of Orlando or the bright lights of Miami tend to look at you blankly when you mention Panama City. T
o avoid confusion and too many suitcases going astray, its full title is Panama City Beach. And the emphasis is very much on beach, as it sits on 27 miles of sugar-white sand which squeaks underfoot. Then, to complete the perfect picture, it shelves gently into the clear emerald waters of the Gulf of Mexico.
Catch a flight from Gatwick at 9am and you could be dipping your toes into its warm water at around 4pm local time. That’s even after changing planes at Atlanta and picking up a rental car from the new airport a 20-minute drive from the coast. While Panama City Beach causes a certain amount of head-scratching back home, it’s as well known in the States as Blackpool and Brighton are here. Around six million people holiday there each year, drawn by more than 300 days of sunshine and average daily temperatures of 74F. Yes, it’s got a fantastic beach, voted one of the world’s best in poll after poll, but it has also pulled off the trick of providing something for just about everybody." -
